Stöðvarfjörður is a very small town, around 200 people live there. A few years ago it always felt like driving through a ghost when driving there. Their main sustain is the aluminum factory in the east fjord and fishing. Along with that young artist from Reykjavík started buying houses there so that has brought some life to the town. In the town, you can also find one of Iceland’s best-known stone and mineral collections, which is a lifelong work of Petra Sveinsdóttir. Petra’s Stone collection is something worth the visit if you like minerals and stones. You can also find galleries and art shows.
