Probably one of Iceland’s most famous outlet glaciers. Svíanfellsjökull was a very popular destination for travelers to go glacier hiking or ice climbing. Also, there used to be some movies shot on the glacier. Some that you might know, Batman begins, Interstellar and Game of Thrones. Svínafellsjökull has recently though been closed for all traffic on to the ice due to landslide hazard. Recently they have discovered a big crack in the mountain Svínafell next to the glacier which they are afraid it will lead to a massive landslide covering big parts of the glacier if it will happen. It’s still possible to visit the side of the glacier for a great view over the glacier though. I recommend giving it a look, the road up to there is not the best so take your time. Note that glacier walking or going on to the ice is only for people with specialized training and the right equipment, but no one can go on to Svínafellsjökull these days due to the landslide hazard.
