Reyðarfjörður is a 30 kilometer long fjord, with about 1200 inhabitants. The number of people living in Reyðarfjörður grew quite a lot around 2007 when they started to build the aluminum factory which is located on the east edge of the town.

In world war 2 a lot of soldiers from Britain, Norway, and the US had a base in Reyðarfjörður and you can find an exhibition in town about that.
