Laugarvatn is a small town located next to the lake Laugarvatn and gets its name from it. Laugarvatn lake is around 2,14 km2, in most place the lake is shallow. In Laugarvatn are many summerhouses and many people from the capital area have houses there. In the town, they also have the Laugarvatn Fontana which is a spa and wellness center made with geothermal water. Worth the visit if you want to treat yourself extra well. In Laugarvatn you can also find Laugarvatnshellir, which is a manmade cave and people use to live there, now they have been rebuilt to show people how they use to live in these caves around 100 years ago.
