Here in Kirkjubæjarklaustur live about 140 people (numbers from 2015). The town itself has many nice sights to visit. The place was nunnery from 1186 until the mid 16th century. The names of the sights you can visit there are all quite linked to convents, such as Systrafoss and Kirkjugólfið.
